About Capay Valley Grown
Capay Valley Grown launched in 2004 as a partnership among twenty-three farm and ranch charter partners that wanted to increase the marketability of their high quality products. The partners of Capay Valley Grown strive to sell a sense of place with their products: information that conveys value to end users while creating transparency about farmer, place, stewardship, and quality. Capay Valley Grown partners are exploring strategies to get as close to customers in Yolo County and Northern California as possible in order to maximize freshness, flavor, and consumer confidence.
The Goals of Capay Valley Grown
- Increasing consumer awareness and access to superior and consistent freshness, flavor, quality and diversity of the region's seasonal and year-round agricultural products.
- Increasing profitability of farming and ranching in the Capay Valley to preserve and enhance the region's resources, rural character, and way of life.
The Branding Program
||Capay Valley Grown partners are working together to create a name for themselves. Through the combined effort of local residents and a graphic designer they created the Capay Valley Grown logo. Our logo is a vibrant symbol being used to identify high quality products grown in the Capay Valley. The logo also conveys the effort of our partners to steward resources for the long-term sustainability of agriculture in the region.
The Producer Partnership
The partnership of Capay Valley Grown is the cornerstone of this initiative. Working together-sharing experience and resources-has allowed all of the partners the opportunity to work toward sustaining and growing their businesses. Although a diversity of products are produced, within the partnership it is agreed that all Capay Valley Grown products are of the highest quality and freshness.
The short list includes vegetables, fruit, nuts, livestock, wine grapes, and much more! A number of partners process their crops to create award-winning products such as wine, candied nuts, olive oil, almond butter, and decorative gourds.
