Has your neighbor done something extraordinary for the community, and would you like to see them honored for their work?
Would you like to see your favorite organization honored for something extraordinary they have done for our community?

A special community recognition event will be held in November to do just that. The awards will honor community members and organizations that go above and beyond to make the Capay Valley Region a wonderful place to live.

We are currently seeking nominations. There are seven awards categories described below. Nominees should exhibit a positive vision for the community as a whole, model community involvement and leadership while honoring the diversity of our community.

The winner of each award will be recognized at an awards ceremony on November 20, 2008 at the Esparto High School Auditorium and receive a beautiful glass sculpture. The event will feature free entertainment and be co-hosted by Tribal Chairman Marshall McKay.

Nomination Forms are available at the Capay Valley Vision / Esparto Chamber office, 16915 Yolo Avenue, Suite B, in Esparto. You can also get a nomination form on line at www.CapayValleyVision.org. Completed nomination forms must be submitted by noon on Friday, October 31, 2008 to be considered by the blue-ribbon panel of judges.* If you have questions contact Capay Valley Vision at (530) 787-3353 or info@capayvalleyvision.org

The Community Recognition Event is brought to you by Capay Valley Vision, Esparto Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Western Yolo Grange with the support of the Wintun Tribe of Rumsey Indians.

Greetings from the Capay Valley

We welcome you to experience California the way it used to be: family friendly, hard working and serene. The Capay Valley is a tranquil region of Northern California nestled between the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area and the metropolitan region of the Sacramento Valley. We invite you to come and immerse yourself in this unique section of Yolo County.

Home to several small communities, a band of Wintun Indians, farms and ranches, and an abundance of wildlife, the beauty of the Capay Valley is found in its rolling hills, natural creeks and affable residents. Whether you call it home or just come to visit, the Capay Valley will remind you of the importance of preserving rural America.

In 2000 a group of residents-including farmers, townspeople, and the Tribal Council of Rumsey Indian Rancheria-came together to discuss issues facing the Capay Valley Region and to develop strategies to manage growth and preserve a sense of place. CVV incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2001 to establish a community-wide vision for the future of the Capay Valley Region and to facilitate an ongoing collaborative process for planning.
